I have some background in graphic design, mainly in freelance and a bit at a sign shop. Adversely, I tend to pay attention more to graphics than the “typical” person. So, when I was reading an article by Wired about The State of the Modern Political Logo and they talked about Trump’s logo, I was a little taken aback when I realized that I couldn’t recall what his was. I was familiar with the logos of Hillary, Jeb, Sanders, Rubio, Carson, Cruz, and so on, but not Trump. Logically, I quickly jumped on Google to search for the logo which had escaped me. To my chagrin, I find not only his logo, but also some parody logos too good not to share. No matter where you stand politically, these are worth a snicker or two. So here you go:
From Matthew Gordon on Twitter, @ratherironic, shared by Wired.com:
Shared by the The Tampa Tribune, most of these were from a DesignCrowd contest:
Trump has been a social icon well before he decided to run for president, so these parodies are more of a reflection of his social presence than an attack on his viability for candidacy. I strive to avoid diving into the political wasteland of public debate as much as possible. I view it mostly unproductive and impossible to keep up with. This is about as close I feel comfortable approaching the chaotic world of political discourse. So, please, if you are a part of the Trump mob, do not assume this as an attack on my part. It is just something I snickered about and desired to share with others.
On a side note, I do wish to express my general boredom with presidential logos. They are typically bland and the same regurgitation of previous design concepts. I might even do an article analyzing and comparing the 2016 logos…maybe.
Have you seen any other good parodies or Trump’s logo or any other the other candidates’? Which logo do you think is the best and the worst? Let me know in the comments!
